House Democrats used their official X account to blame President Donald Trump for the war’s cost. The post tied the conflict to the prices Americans are paying.

“Nobody asked for Donald Trump to plunge the country into another forever war with Iran. Costs have skyrocketed because of his reckless decision, and they’re crushing Americans.”

Despite the money spent in the war effort against Iran, the president doesn’t seem too concerned. In a recent video from the Oval Office, President Trump shared that the country has more than made up for the expenses from Venezuela. The president also assured the people that the prices will stop skyrocketing once the conflict is over.

The war began on February 28, 2026, when the United States and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury. Pentagon figures provided to Congress put the cost above $47 billion after seven and a half months. The Congressional Budget Office put Defense Department costs at $38.1 billion through August 1, 2026. Iran’s disruption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz pushed gasoline prices higher. At a Georgia rally, Trump said the country is “making a fortune.”

Trump held off on new strikes while campaigning for Republicans. The White House has said no attack will happen before the vote. He also told a Florida rally: “We may do another little Epic Fury, or they’ll agree.” The Wall Street Journal reported that Gulf allies were told to prepare for a short campaign. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut said the reported plan will fail. He warned it would “set off a new cycle of escalation.” Trump is reportedly planning to restart the war after the November 3 midterm election.
