Popular far-right activist Laura Loomer shared what she believes would happen to her if she visited Russia. On her personal X account, the political activist said she would likely be held as a prisoner of war. She believes her criticisms of the country will pave the way for her imprisonment. This is a distinct difference from her visit to Ukraine, where she interviewed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“If I went to Russia, I would be jailed and held hostage as a POW for criticizing Russia. I went to Ukraine as a critic and the President of Ukraine invited me to his palace and allowed me to interview him. After I interviewed @ZelenskyyUa, Russian state media, which is controlled by Putin and the Kremlin, was calling for me to be assassinated, and then they were retweeting IRGC propaganda videos that called for Islamic terrorists to shoot me in the head. Ukraine and Russia aren’t the same.”

The political activist also clarified that President Zelenskyy invited her to his palace for an interview. After the interview, she shared that the Russian state media called for her assassination.

As an activist, Laura Loomer believes that Russia and Ukraine have different methods in treating outsiders. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy opened his doors for an interview earlier this year and saw firsthand what the country was like. Laura Loomer shared that this interview might have antagonized President Vladimir Putin of Russia, which prompted him to use the media against Loomer.

The political activist shed light on the fact that the President of Ukraine is much more welcoming and that her visit to Russia would put her safety at risk. To close her post, Laura Loomer said, “Ukraine and Russia aren’t the same.”
