A McDonald’s menu leak has fans swooning after it claimed the two long-dead favorites were about to rise again.
The claim felt plausible because McDonald’s UK had already dipped into its back catalogue this month, when the Snack Wrap returned on October 6 after a decade away. Yet the Chicken Legend, a 15-year fixture axed in 2022, and the Breakfast Bagel stayed buried despite years of fan petitions, until an Instagram account whispered otherwise.
Chicken Legend and Breakfast Bagels reportedly return to McDonald’s UK in January
UK Newest Foods claimed in an Instagram post that both items would return to McDonald’s UK menus in January, named no date beyond the month, and signed off with its usual boast that followers heard it first.
McDonald’s has not confirmed the plans, so one commenter did the sensible thing and demanded proof before getting excited, while others gushed that their happiness had been restored.
The Chicken Legend ducked out in 2022 after 15 years on the menu, and the McCrispy took its place. Its fried chicken breast, lettuce and choice of mayo, barbecue or spicy tomato sauce sat inside a ciabatta roll that fans never stopped mourning.
Breakfast Bagels vanished in 2020, and in January 2022 McDonald’s UK made it official by dressing the news up as a mutual break-up, then offered 99p McMuffins to placate the mourners.
The Breakfast Wrap clawed its way back in February 2024 after McDonald’s tallied 22 petitions, yet the sausage, egg and cheese bagel, which stacked a pork patty, a folded egg and American cheese, didn’t make a return.
Until McDonald’s UK says otherwise, treat the January comeback as a rumour with excellent fan service, and bridge the wait with the Chicken & Egg McMuffin from World Menu Heist 2.0, which stays on menus through November 16.
