McDonald’s has confirmed the long-awaited return of its iconic McRib sandwich, and its comeback could have Bitcoin enthusiasts watching closely for a very unusual reason.
The fast-food giant is bringing back the fan-favorite sandwich for another limited run in the United States, continuing a tradition that has made the McRib one of its most sought-after menu items.
McDonald’s senior marketing director Guillaume Huin shared the latest update on X on October 22, as details of the sandwich’s return began emerging across the country.
According to McDonald’s information shared with The National Provisioner, the McRib will return to participating restaurants in Michigan on October 26, with additional markets expected to follow.
Other reports have pointed to a November 2 launch in certain regions, although availability will vary by location.
Why Bitcoin investors care about the McRib’s return
While most customers are simply excited to get their hands on the sandwich again, the McRib has developed an unlikely reputation among cryptocurrency enthusiasts.
Some traders believe Bitcoin tends to surge whenever McDonald’s brings back the McRib, pointing to apparent correlations in 2017, 2020, and 2021.
The theory gained even more attention in December 2024, when Bitcoin crossed the $100,000 mark for the first time around the same period that the sandwich returned.
Huin even acknowledged the bizarre connection during the McRib’s 2025 comeback.
McDonald’s“Some claim Bitcoin and S&P500 tend to perform well after the McRib makes a comeback, particularly in 2017, 2020, 2021. Coincidentally, when the McRib returned to stores in December 2024, Bitcoin hit a new all-time high,” he said.
Of course, there’s no evidence that a barbecue-covered pork sandwich actually influences cryptocurrency prices. As Decrypt previously noted, the McRib’s return has also preceded major Bitcoin declines.
The latest comeback follows several other returning McDonald’s favorites in 2026, including Spicy Chicken McNuggets and the Snack Wrap’s return to the UK after a decade.
Whether Bitcoin takes off this time or not, McRib fans will finally have another chance to get their hands on the legendary sandwich before it disappears again.
