There’s a secret outfit for Rose in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, and anyone can get it by simply typing in the famous Konami Code, a set of button inputs that’s been present in the vast majority of Konami games as well as many other titles made by other developers. In Belmont’s Curse, the Konami Code unlocks a skin for Rose inspired by the outfit worn by Sonia Belmont, the protagonist of the old Castlevania Legends game for the Game Boy handheld console.
How to Get the Sonia Belmont Skin in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse
The good thing about this secret outfit is you can get it from literally anywhere in the game. Get to a safe place, then input the Konami Code: [Up], [Up], [Down], [Down], [Left], [Right], [Left], [Right], [X], [Circle]
For Keyboard, it’s W, W, S, S, A, D, A, D, Shift, Space
If inputting the Konami Code doesn’t unlock the Sonia Belmont skin for whatever reason, try reversing the last two buttons. If done correctly, a message saying that you unlocked the outfit should appear on your screen. Once that’s finished, open the Options menu, then go to System, then Character Skin to change your costume.
Description
The Konami Code outfit in Belmont’s Curse is a reference to Sonia Belmont, the protagonist of one of the first Castlevania games for the Game Boy in 1997. Game graphics were nothing more but a few moving pixels back then, but the skin you can unlock now is fully fleshed out based on Sonia’s character concept art (which is also shown in the Castlevania Legends cover art).
The Sonia skin replaces Rose’s outfit with a green, revealing leotard. It also removes her cursed arm and turns her orange hair blonde, essentially turning Rose into a completely different person, much like how her other costumes heavily change her theme based on different characters from the franchise (namely Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard).
History Time
Castlevania Legends was originally planned to serve as the origin story of the Belmont clan’s feud with Dracula, with Sonia being the original vampire slayer. However, the game’s story was eventually written off from the series’ canonical events after Castlevania: Lament of Innocence released for the PS2 in 2003. The latter introduced Leon Belmont as the true patriarch of the Belmont clan, and the one responsible for dedicating the family to hunting Dracula.
Sonia Belmont is one of the very few playable female characters in the Castlevania series, and she was the only female protagonist in a mainline game up until the release of Belmont’s Curse, which features Rose.
