Art of Play’s co-owner Adam Rubin recently shared his thoughts on the Kelly Clarkson drama, claiming that they are being threatened.

Art of Play’s co-owner Adam Rubin recently shared his thoughts on the Kelly Clarkson drama. For context, Clarkson had visited a store called Art of Play in Brooklyn. Unsatisfied with the treatment she received, the Stronger singer posted her grievances on social media, which immediately went viral. The drama then further escalated with a back-and-forth between both parties.
In a recent interview with TMZ, the Brooklyn store’s co-owner shared their side of the story. He said he worried about his employees’ safety and accused Clarkson of ‘putting them in danger.’ Rubin alleged that people had called and texted them several threatening messages because of Clarkson’s post. Claiming that they were being attacked, he had this to say:
“We are legitimately worried about the safety of our shopkeepers because Kelly Clarkson has put us all in danger by using her platform… [We received] thousands of phone calls, threats, text messages… barrage of hateful messages from Kelly Clarkson fans… We’re getting attacked on social media on our private social media accounts, we’re getting attacked.”
He then said that Clarkson’s fans were also attacking friends and family who had posted positive things about Art of Play. Rubin also said that people were doxxing neighboring schools. He said:
“And the worst part of it is that our fans who have actually been here, our friends and our family who have actually been in the store, anytime they post anything in support, any positivity or admiration for our shop, they’re getting attacked by Kelly Clarkson fans and getting threatened and getting people telling our neighbors when he says something nice that they hope that his cat gets cancer. They’re doxxing the children’s art school next door. We had no idea that any of this was going to happen, but Kelly Clarkson did.”

“Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me. Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale. But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman.
