TikToker Brenna Peltier’s brother Braedon, star of viral holiday countdowns, dies at 31

Brenna Peltier has announced the death of her brother Braedon, who regularly appeared in the influencer’s viral holiday countdown videos.

Peltier, who has more than four million followers, shared the news on October 9. According to People, Braedon died on September 25 at the age of 31 after years of health complications linked to a brain tumor diagnosed during his childhood.

The siblings became known for their annual countdown videos, in which they removed links from a paper chain to count down to holidays including Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Braedon’s appearances made the videos a recurring part of Peltier’s content and helped him build a following.

Brenna Peltier says loss was “sudden and unexpected”

Peltier announced Braedon’s death in a TikTok montage featuring clips of their time together. The post included several favorite memories and photos of the siblings.

“As I’m typing this out, I still refuse to believe it,” Peltier wrote. She described the loss as “sudden and unexpected” and said her family was heartbroken.

Peltier said Braedon had faced ongoing medical problems after being diagnosed with a brain tumor at around six years old. She also said he had spent much of the previous year in and out of the hospital.

“He was so blissfully unaware of the hand he had been dealt in life,” she wrote. “Over the years, he has had some health complications, but I think his body was just done. done fighting. but he never complained & always tried to make everyone smile.”

She described Braedon as “kind, funny, sweet, caring, and most of all brave.”

Peltier previously explained why the family had stopped making its Christmas countdown videos after Braedon experienced a major health scare. She said his health and routine had changed so much that continuing the series was no longer practical.

“The countdown is not the priority for us as a family,” Peltier said at the time. “We have to put his health first.”

Peltier now says her social media accounts will serve as a “time capsule” for the memories she shared with her brother.

“I know many of you guys loved him deeply,” she wrote. “I have made a video of my favorite moments to share with you guys, because he loved all of you guys ‘equally’ as well.”

The announcement prompted an outpouring of condolences from followers, many of whom remembered Braedon from the siblings’ earliest countdown videos.

The response echoes the reaction to TikTok creator John West’s death, after his family-focused videos led viewers to mourn the loss of a familiar presence on their feeds. Fans have also previously used creators’ old videos to share memories following the deaths of online personalities such as Duda Alves.

Peltier ended her tribute by writing that she would “never be able to say enough” to express how much Braedon meant to her and her family.
