Senator Rick Scott responds to Zohran Mamdani’s post about October 7, calling his administration an “embarrassment.”

On October 7, 2026, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani shared his thoughts on the Israel-Palestine conflict. While acknowledging the Israeli civilian deaths in the 2023 attacks, he also wrote about the 74,000 victims in Gaza who have been killed. Stating that he ‘grieves alongside his many friends and neighbors,’ he had this to say on X:
“It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.”
Mamdani then noted that the “so-called ceasefire” has continued to claim lives, with more than 1,400 Palestinians killed since. The mayor pointed to Israeli bombs being dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, as well as drone strikes targeting journalists. He also wrote about Israel turning away food aid at the border before it could reach Palestinians. Noting that U.S. tax dollars fund these actions, he went on to say:
“The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.”
U.S. Senator Rick Scott reacted to Mamdani’s post on X. He said the mayor spread “Hamas propaganda” through his post and called his administration an “embarrassment to the people of New York.” Calling Mamdani a “terrorist sympathizer,” he wrote:
“We know @NYCMayor Mamdani is a terrorist sympathizer. But the fact that he can’t give the Jewish people one day to mourn without spreading Hamas propaganda is despicable. Mamdani’s administration is an embarrassment to the people of New York and a constant insult to the Jewish community. The best thing he could have done today was keep his terrorist-sympathizing mouth shut.”
Ben Shapiro Reacts to Zohran Mamdani’s October 7 Post

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro responded to Zohran Mamdani’s post about the Israel-Palestine conflict. He noted the number of words the mayor of New York used for each side. He said only 49 words were devoted to the tribute for Jews who were killed, while 141 words addressed the Palestinian deaths. Shapiro wrote:
“49 words in tribute to the Jews murdered on October 7. 141 words on how Israel is responsible for everything and the only answer is to hand more power, money, and authority to those who wish to destroy Israel.”
