On October 5, 2026, Chet Hanks posted a video on his Instagram seemingly confronting Eric Andre. The video shows Hanks walking up behind Andre and his entourage at ComplexCon before putting his hand on the comedian’s shoulder. The two are seen talking before Andre’s security steps in to end the conversation. The clip then cuts to Chet walking behind them, with Andre turning around and saying something to him.
This clip was then reshared by TMZ on their official X account. As of writing, the post has garnered over 2 million views and over 9,000 likes on the platform. Social media users shared their thoughts on the interaction. They wrote:

On his Instagram, Chet Hanks detailed his run-in with Eric Andre. The son of actor Tom Hanks said the comedian traveled with four security guards as “the environment makes him uneasy.” He also alleged that Andre had ‘trashed’ him on his show. According to Hanks, Andre had accused him of “mocking Caribbean culture” on previous occasions. Hanks has previously done a Jamaican accent on his social media in past years.
Calling Eric “a passionate cultural activist,” he wrote this on Instagram:
“Finally ran into @eric********andre, who apparently travels to ComplexCon with 4 security guards (because the environment makes him uneasy) and who had NO MEMORY WHATSOEVER of trashing me to the media after I outshined him on his own show!! Until, after being sheltered by his security team, [he] began foaming at the mouth and admitted it was because he had a problem with me ‘mocking Caribbean culture’ when I did my Jamaican accent all those years ago. WHO KNEW that in addition to the brain rot and poop joke humor he is known for, Eric is also such a passionate cultural activist!!! Great running into you Eric!!!!”
