He spoke about his upcoming movie How to Rob a Bank, which, according to Rotten Tomatoes, is a movie about social media-savvy bank robbers who broadcast their heists. Speaking of these savvy individuals, Davidson pivoted to talking about influencers. The comedian went off on GRWMs and TikTok dances, claiming that it “makes him sad.” He said:
“It makes me sad. Girls are just talking to themselves and they’re like, ‘Okay, come get ready with me.’ I’m like, ‘Who the **** are you?’ What do you do? Nothing… They make $40 million a year?… There’s girls my age that go on TikTok that mutter, like, a thing and do this, like, dance?… Does no one see how insane and lame this is? And these girls are like, super famous.”

Influencer Sophie Rain responded to Pete Davidson’s comments about social media personalities. Although the comedian did not mention her by name, he did say that some influencers make $40 million a year. Rain has previously been reported to have made over $40 million from her content. On X, she posted a minute-and-15-second video responding to his comments. Claiming that “being an influencer is a lot of work,” Sophie said:
“Yes, I am the girl who made $40 million a year for ‘doing nothing…’ Although the money does come easy for me, it wasn’t always like that.
