Right as September transitioned to October, Nintendo released the Switch 2 version 23.0.1 firmware update for all users to download and install on their consoles. The new Switch 2 system firmware update is also available for users with an original Nintendo Switch console.

New Switch 2 Update Fixes an Outstanding Software Issue

Although the previous Switch 2 version 23.0.0 update added support for Variable Refresh Rate while in docked mode, the new 23.0.1 firmware patch was not as substantial. Nintendo stated that firmware version 23.0.1 was made to fix an issue from the 23.0.0 update that could cause some software to occasionally take a longer time than usual to start, pause or close. The same issue was also present on original Nintendo Switch consoles that had firmware version 23.0.0 installed. Version 23.0.1 is the second Nintendo firmware update released in a three-week span, following the September 10 launch of version 23.0.0. After connecting to the Internet and downloading the 23.0.1 firmware update, Switch and Switch 2 users should have an easier time accessing and shutting off any installed games or apps. No other changes were listed by Nintendo in the 23.0.1 firmware update notes.
