Amazon has unveiled its completely redesigned Kindle lineup for 2026, and one of its new accessories gives readers something they have been asking for: physical page-turn buttons.
The company announced new versions of the Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft, alongside a collection of accessories designed around how people actually use their e-readers. Among them is a magnetic Page-Turn Cover that puts dedicated physical controls back within reach.
The launch comes as Amazon says Kindle has recorded double-digit global growth for three consecutive years, with readers turning more than 720 billion pages in 2025.
The company says it has also seen Kindle owners create their own hands-free setups using stands, pillows, and other accessories, which helped inspire its new lineup.
Kindle gets physical page-turn buttons through new case and remote
The new Page-Turn Cover costs $79.99 and features physical buttons built directly into the side of the magnetic case.
Rather than adding buttons to the Kindles themselves, Amazon is using pogo pin connectivity to integrate the controls into the cover while preserving the devices’ slim design.
There is a catch, however. The Page-Turn Cover is only compatible with the new Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, which cost $249.99 and $319.99, respectively.
Amazon is also introducing the $34.99 Kindle Click, a compact Bluetooth remote that lets users turn pages without touching their Kindle. It works with every device in the new lineup as well as Kindle models released in 2024 or later.
The Click is intended for hands-free reading setups, including while using a treadmill, reading in bed, or keeping a Kindle on a tray table during a flight.
Amazon’s Signature Edition devices also have another way to move through books without tapping the screen. Both the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition support double tapping to turn pages.
The accessories arrive alongside a broader redesign of the Kindle family. Every new model now uses a flush-front display with no raised border, while Amazon has also introduced edge-to-edge color across the lineup.
The standard 6-inch Kindle starts at $149.99 with 16GB of storage, up to six weeks of battery life, and book opening that Amazon says is 30% faster than the previous model. A new aluminum-backed version with 32GB of storage costs $189.99.
The Kindle Paperwhite starts at $199.99 and offers up to 12 weeks of battery life, while the Kindle Colorsoft starts at $289.99 and features Amazon’s paper-like color display.
Amazon has also introduced a $59.99 Charging Dock for the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition, along with new Kindle covers starting at $39.99.
The new Kindle and aluminum Kindle are available now in the US and several other markets. Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft preorders are rolling out across the same regions.
The Kindle overhaul comes as Amazon-owned Audible is also changing how people interact with books. Audible recently unveiled three new AI-powered features, including Character Guide, Interactive Stories, and Visual Explorer, which let listeners identify speakers, interact with characters, and explore maps and imagery connected to a story.
