The Complete Set is one of the side stories in Control Resonant that will give players a choice that will decide the ending of the quest and the victim involved. Players will need to find all the Altered Speakers, including a Subwoofer, and complete the ritual to save the entranced civilian in the Auction House. During the ritual, players will be given a choice to either turn up the Subwoofer’s volume or turn it off; I’ll be discussing the outcome of both choices in The Complete Set quest too.
How to Start “The Complete Set” in Control Resonant
Players can start The Complete Set side story in Control Resonant by visiting the Auction House in the northwestern part of the Downtown Zone. While the Auction House POI isn’t marked on the map from the get-go, you’ll still be able to see “Dense Patterning (Unscouted)” that’ll point players to the generation location.
Head to the location I’ve pointed out above, and the entrance to the Auction House will be blocked by Hiss debris. You’ll need to defeat all the enemies in front of its entrance to enter the Auction House.
Once inside, you’ll find a civilian trapped in a trance, and picking up the nearby recording and a document about the Altered Speaker Set to the left of the lady will add “The Complete Set” quest to your journal.
How to Capture the Speaker at the Auction House
Next, an Altered Speaker will start wreaking havoc in the Auction House. You’ll need to jump down from the upper platform and capture the speaker.
The speaker will jump around the lower part of the auction house, then momentarily stop before continuing to move again. You’ll need to avoid touching it while it’s moving, and wait for it to pause momentarily. Once it’s briefly stationary, quickly go near it and grab it up.
After capturing the Altered Speaker in the Auction House, four additional objectives will be added to your log for The Complete Set quest in Control Resonant.
- Ask Langston About Confiscated Subwoofer
- Investigate the Collector’s Apartment
- Investigate the Auction Buyer’s Apartment
- Investigate the Museum of Curiosities
How to Get the Confiscated Subwoofer from Langston
Head to the FBC Field Office in Central and talk to Langston, who’ll hand over the Clearance Level SR Keycard to Dylan. However, you’ll need to select the dialog “I am still looking for the subwoofer.”
Once you have it, fast travel to the Oldest House: Central Executive.
From the Central Executive, jump down and go into the elevator leading down to the Executive Research department.
Here, look to the right of the Shelter, and you’ll find a locked room requiring Clearance Level SR. Use the keycard that Langston gave you, and you’ll be able to pick up the Altered Subwoofer from inside.
However, right after you interact with the Subwoofer, a bunch of Hiss enemies will spawn in the lobby outside. You’ll need to take them out first, followed by containing the Subwoofer that will be jumping around outside, similar to how you caught the Altered Speaker at the Auction House.
How to Get the Altered Speaker from the Collector’s Apartment
Next, head to the southwest edge of Central zone to get to the Collector’s Apartment to find the next Altered Speaker in Control Resonant The Complete Set quest.
While you can enter the apartment and get some notes and documents, as a shortcut, you can just head towards the dumpsters located directly opposite to the entrance of the Collector’s Apartment building.
After interacting with the Altered Speaker, it’ll jump across the alley and enter the nearby construction site. You’ll need to follow it to capture and secure it.
The strategy remains the same: wait either on the upper floor or the lower floor of the construction site, and wait for the Altered Speaker to get near Dylan. Once it becomes stationary, dash towards it and immediately start capturing the speaker. Don’t forget to pick it up afterward.
How to Get the Speaker from the Auction Buyer’s Apartment
The next objective will require Dylan to visit the Auction Buyer’s Apartment located just east of the FBC Field Office in Central zone. However, instead of heading to the apartment building, you can just visit the Atlantis Coffee shop near it (location marked in the image above) to complete the objective quickly.
The entrance to the coffee shop will be blocked, and you’ll need to defeat the Hiss enemies around it to unblock the entrance.
If you choose to complete this objective normally, you’ll additionally need to locate and find four different Hiss anomalies scattered around the area and destroy them to unblock the entrance, which can make the quest a bit lengthy. Feel free to use my shortcut instead.
Now, head inside the Atlantis Coffee Shop, grab the note beside the table before interacting with the Altered Speaker. It’ll start jumping away from Dylan and will bounce around the courtyard outside the coffee shop. Again, you’ll need to use a similar strategy and identify the pattern in its movement. As soon as the Altered Speaker is stationary, move in to capture it.
How to Get the Altered Speaker from the Museum of Curiosities
To locate the last Altered Speaker in Control Resonant The Complete Set quest, you’ll need to head to the Museum of Curiosities located in the southeast corner of West Incursion Zone. There will be a few enemies outside the museum that you’ll need to take care of.
The entrance to the museum will be blocked, so you’ll need to follow the three red trails leading to Hiss anomalies. Once you locate and destroy them, Dylan will be able to enter the museum to retrieve the last Altered Speaker.
Push the red button in front of the Altered Speaker inside the museum to activate it. After that, you can choose to stand next to the reception desk and wait for the speaker to arrive here and become still momentarily. Once it’s stationary, capture it and head back to the Auction House in the Downtown zone.
Complete the Ritual at the Auction House
After returning to the Auction House in Downtown, you’ll need to complete the ritual to save the tranced civilian. So first, you’ll need to place the Altered Speaker set on the sofa beside the civilian. After that, pick up the black Subwoofer and place it directly behind the civilian, on the wet surface.
Now, you can refer to the image above to place the four other speakers in the Complete Set quest in Control Resonant.
- Place one speaker on the stage on the west side of the room.
- One speaker goes on top of the stack of stage speakers to the east side of the room.
- You’ll need the third speaker on the blue tarp on the upper floor.
- The last speaker goes to a makeshift wooden table at the north end of the room.
After placing the last speaker, you’ll need to turn all four Altered Speakers off.
Once all four speakers have been turned off, head to the civilian and interact with her to progress the quest. Right after this, you’ll get the main choice of the quest.
The Complete Set Quest Bug Fix: Some players may have issues triggering the Subwoofer choice in The Complete Set quest in Control Resonant. To progress the quest normally, when you interact with the civilian NPC after turning off all speakers, don’t move Dylan at all. Wait for the NPC to complete her dialog, and only go towards the Subwoofer when the “Finish the Ritual” dialog pops up on screen. Enable subtitles to make this process easier.
Should You Turn the Subwoofer Off or Turn Its Volume Up in Control Resonant (Complete Set)
Towards the end of The Complete Set in Control Resonant, players will need to decide whether to turn off the Subwoofer or turn its volume up. This choice is crucial as it’ll decide which ending of the quest you’ll get.
What Happens if You Turn Subwoofer Off?
If you decide to go with the “Turn Subwoofer Off” choice in the Complete Set quest, the gateway opened by the subwoofer will close, and the civilian will die. Players will still get the Bout Guard artifact as a reward for completing the quest. Dylan will also report to Zoe about the death of the civilian, who’ll console him, saying that he may have averted a bigger tragedy.
What Happens if You Turn Subwoofer Volume Up?
If players pick the “Turn Subwoofer Volume Up” choice in The Complete Set quest in Control Resonant, the gateway will be opened, and all the entities in said gateway will enter the civilian.
While the civilian will be trapped inside her own body, she won’t die, saving Dylan from immediate regret afterward. Dylan will also feel much better updating Zoe about the civilian’s fate, and it’s implied that FBC eventually rescues her and places her inside a containment unit.
