“I Think That Black People Have Equal Rights Now”: Asmongold Says Black People Should “Shut Up” About Slavery

Kick streamer Asmongold responds to Hasan Piker’s comments about him, claiming that “Black people have equal rights now.”

On September 26, 2026, controversial streamer Zack “Asmongold” went live on Kick. He shared his thoughts on fellow streamer Hasan Piker condemning him for his comments about slavery.

For context, in a previous stream, Asmongold responded to Twitch streamer Silky addressing the generational trauma caused by slavery. In response, Zack suggested that Silky was “still crashing out over slavery.” After a clip of this broadcast was shared on X, progressive streamer Piker reacted to it. He called Zack a “multimillionaire who complains about video games being woke,” and wrote:

“Multimillionaire who complains about video games being woke as the biggest crisis thinks black people should shut up about chattel slavery and its historic and contemporary contributions to inequality.”

Asmongold then responded to Hasan’s comments on his stream. He said Black people have equal rights now, and that he doesn’t want to hear complaints about slavery. He argued that certain individuals’ failures stem from their own bad decisions, not slavery. Claiming they should “shut up about it,” he said:

“I think that black people have equal rights now and I don’t wanna hear about every single time that a Black person does something wrong, or there’s some sort of wealth inequality, that it’s because of slavery. I don’t want to hear about that **** anymore…. There’s been tons of people that have been disenfranchised; hold yourself accountable…. I think that they should shut up about it…. If you are failing nowadays and you’re black, it’s not because of slavery, it’s because you made bad decisions. That’s the bottom line.”

On September 24, 2026, Twitch streamer Silky accused Asmongold of being racist amid the two disagreeing about the effects of slavery in the present day. He said he would not address Zack’s claims, since he is “out of touch with reality.” He said:

“I don’t have to respond to anything…. I’m not going to address certain **** with certain people because this is the people…. I’m not going to address somebody that I don’t need to address because these are the people that I am addressing. But I can’t beef with somebody who is out of touch with reality, bro. The ***** doesn’t leave his crib, so he doesn’t know reality.”

Zack reacted to Silky’s clip and shared his thoughts on the matter. The Kick streamer suggested that Silky was ‘larping’ about slavery, since he didn’t grow up in a time when slavery existed. He said:

“You’re still crashing out over slavery. You are so young that whenever you were growing up, the President was Black! Please, stop the larp. Stop the larp! Stop acting like you grew up under segregation. All white people did not grow up with generational wealth, and I’m going to give Silky one, and hopefully he understands this. I think that you’re right that more white people have generational wealth than Black people. And one of the reasons for that is slavery. And I think the result and the solution to that is to provide financial aid, housing, and assistance to families, regardless of race, who are underprivileged and that will disproportionately help Black people.”
