KFC is serving breakfast in the US for the first time, at a new test restaurant in McKinney, Texas, that opened on September 26.
Called Open House, it’s a testing ground for new menu items and service ideas that could roll out across KFC’s more than 3,400 US restaurants.
The morning menu includes breakfast sandwiches, Original Recipe tenders, Hashbrown Sticks, Mini Cronuts, freshly brewed coffee and iced lattes.
KFC Open House brings boba and table service to Texas
According to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth, it’s the first time KFC has offered breakfast in the US. The restaurant runs from 6 AM until midnight daily.
It also debuts KFC’s new drinks lineup in the US, with lemonades, boba refreshers and Krunch shakes. A similar menu has already launched in the UK, Canada, Australia and Turkey.
Tenders and sandwiches come with a bigger sauce selection, including Jalapeño Ranch, Sweet Heat Ranch and Garlic Parmesan, while new sides include Fried Green Beans and Spicy Pickles.
Guests order at kiosks, and staff bring food to the table, alongside dual drive-thru lanes and a dedicated mobile pickup lane. There’s also a photo booth and a merch counter selling KFC apparel.
“It gives guests a reason to try us, or try us again, while giving us a real restaurant where we can learn what works for guests, our teams and the business, and scale the strongest ideas across the system,” said KFC US president Catherine Tan-Gillespie.
It builds on the global rebrand KFC unveiled in June 2026, which promised next-generation restaurant designs and a bigger push into drinks.
A free grand opening celebration runs on September 27 from 10am to 2pm CT, with first tastes of the new menu, giveaways and a special guest appearance.
KFC’s breakfast push isn’t limited to Texas either. KFC UK teamed up with Surreal on a chicken-flavored cereal designed to be eaten with gravy instead of milk.
