The Study Table is a critical tool for gaining Tech Points fast in Graveyard Keeper 2. Players will get access to it after they unlock the Alchemy Lab in the tower next to their house in the Inquisition Base, which can be done by completing the Plague Doctor’s request in the dungeon. Once the Alchemy Lab is unlocked, you’ll be able to earn and spend Science points, which can significantly accelerate your progress through the Graveyard Keeper 2 tech tree.
How to Use the Study Table in Graveyard Keeper 2
After you complete the first quest for the Plague Doctor, you’ll unlock the Inquisition Base’s tower, which contains a Study Table and Laboratory. This part of the main questline will also teach you how to make Dream Dust, an essential material for summoning fairies.
The Study Table has two functions:
- Decompose materials to gain Science
- Spend Science to learn more about different materials
The Study Table is not craftable, though you won’t really need more than one of them.
Science is mainly earned by decomposing Clean Paper and Science Kits, both of which can be crafted at a Writing Desk. For efficiency’s sake, I strongly recommend only decomposing Science Kits — these yield 30 Science when decomposed (as opposed to just 1 per piece of Clean Paper), and you get 3 of them per crafting batch. Science Kits require the following materials:
- 1 Alchemy Flasks
- 5 Clean paper
- 1 Ink
Alchemy Flasks are made in a Furnace using Glass. Clean Paper is made using Leather Scrolls (made from Skin harvested from corpses), and Ink is made from Ash, Water, and Melted Fat. Make sure you’re always gathering Fat and Skin from corpses that get carted to the morgue, and if you get corpses that have too many red skulls on them, chuck them into a Cremator to get Ash.
What is Science For?
Science is treated as the main resource that’s used for studying all sorts of items and materials. By studying an item, you’ll get a generous sum of Tech Points, which you can then spend to unlock new recipes in the tech tree. The types of Tech Points you earn differ from item to item, and you can tell which ones you get by highlighting the item you want to study.
Studying an item also reveals its Compounds, which are either red, green, or blue. Items that have been studied can then be used in the Laboratory for alchemy. Combine the right items that have the right kinds and amounts of Compounds to get a completely different item.
Studying items is the best way to get tons of Tech Points in Graveyard Keeper 2. While you can definitely earn them by doing menial work, you can get dozens of Tech Points just by studying the correct item. This is perfect for when you really need to unlock a specific node in the tech tree.
