Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj, nicknamed “Wifi,” was caught watching his younger brother Florian fight a Toronto Maple Leafs player from the penalty box during Saturday’s split-squad preseason games.
The Canadiens divided their roster between simultaneous games at Montreal’s Bell Centre and Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, meaning the brothers were playing in different cities. The team ultimately beat Toronto 4-3 in overtime at home and 4-1 on the road, according to the official game recap.
Arber was serving a two-minute roughing penalty in Montreal when a staff member handed him a phone showing Florian’s fight. The Athletic reported that Sportsnet cameras caught Arber watching the footage during a stoppage in play before he returned the phone with a smile.

“There was a little bit of time in between the whistles so the guy kind of just pulled his phone out and showed me the fight,” Arber said after the game. “And it was a sick fight. It’s good for him.”
Florian had taken a run at Maple Leafs forward William Nylander earlier in the game, with Nylander receiving a slashing penalty afterward. Toronto defenseman Marshall Rifai then challenged Florian near center ice, leading to a fight that lasted more than 30 seconds.
The moment quickly spread among Canadiens fans, with one clip posted to Reddit showing Arber checking in on his brother from the penalty box.
Florian is competing for a full-time place on Montreal’s roster after appearing in five NHL games last season. He spent most of the year with the Laval Rocket, where he led the team with 182 penalty minutes in 64 games.
Arber, meanwhile, led the Canadiens with 116 penalty minutes during the 2025-26 season, making his own penalty-box cameo an especially fitting place to watch his brother throw down.
