Kojima Productions Issues New Official Statement on PlayStation and Physint


Kojima Productions has issued a new statement about its relationship with PlayStation after Sony recently opted to cancel the developer’s upcoming project, Physint. Xbox Game Studios quickly picked up the publishing rights for Physint in the wake of PlayStation’s decision, saving the project from full cancellation.

Kojima Productions Says PlayStation Relationship “Strong” After Physint Cancellation

In a statement posted on X, Kojima Productions acknowledged online rumors regarding its relationship with PlayStation after the company opted to cancel Physint (before Xbox picked it up), as well as rumors about Death Stranding sales and the studio’s overall profitability. The developer says that while it normally wouldn’t comment on these matters, these stories have “reached beyond the studio and have touched our fans, our creative partners, and colleagues we have worked alongside with for three decades.” It encourages fans to take claims regarding these matters “with a dose of scepticism.”

However, it does state that PlayStation dropping Physint was “a serious situation for the studio with a range of potentially significant implications,” and that while the speculation may have caused fans to become worried about its future, ” the studio is in a healthy, profitable state, development for Physint continues to move forward with XBOX, and our relationship with PlayStation remains strong.”
