Elliot Page has opened up about the lack of new acting opportunities following the release of The Odyssey.

Page recently appeared on the On Film with Kevin McCarthy show, with the episode released on September 1, 2026. During the conversation, the actor discussed his career, recent projects, and what could be next for him.

At one point, the host Kevin McCarthy asked Page whether the success of The Odyssey had led to more offers from filmmakers:

“At this moment right now, I don’t know if you can talk about it, but do you know what you’re doing next? Have you already started looking? Because I imagine you’re getting a zillion calls after this movie.”

However, Page said that has not been the case. The actor explained that he is currently not getting movie roles and admitted that he would like to find another project soon:

“No, Kevin, I’m not… If someone wants to call me.”

Page came out as transgender in 2020 and has since continued his acting career under his current identity. While Page did not directly accuse any particular filmmaker or studio of discrimination, his remarks indirectly suggested that he believes his gender identity and the way audiences and the industry previously viewed him could be factors in the lack of offers:

“Sometimes I wish I could be more that person. You know, I’m more like, if they want me, you know, if they think I’m right, but maybe, maybe too, because, you know, I was seen in a certain way before, and it’s, it is different now. So I understand, you know, so maybe there, maybe there is something to like reaching, reaching out to people and, and, and, and trying to, yeah, create, you know, connections and projects that way. But, you know, I think it’s a little tricky for me to get cast right now. I think that’s probably for obvious, pretty obvious reasons: the Canadian thing.”

Elliot Page Opens Up About Feeling Uncomfortable Playing Ariadne in Inception

Page, during the same September 1, 2026, interview, reflected on some of the most notable roles from the early part of her acting career while discussing her current situation with Kevin McCarthy.

Page said she enjoyed being part of Inception and valued the opportunity to work with Nolan. However, she admitted that she did not feel entirely comfortable while playing Ariadne. The actor also pointed to Juno MacGuff from the 2007 film Juno as a role where she felt much more at ease:

That’s what I’d love to do. And I feel like I’m in a place where, you know, it is actually interesting when you ask me about it. I don’t know if this is weird or too personal. If it is, we can, but when you do ask me about Ariadne, it’s like I had, you know, I had such a great time being in that movie. I had such a great time working with her. But I was also personally really uncomfortable. Whereas a part like Juno, you know, I was able to feel a bit more comfortable and embodied, or something like that.

Her reflections show how different roles can affect an actor’s personal connection to their work, even when a project itself is highly successful.
