France and Saudi Arabia have agreed to build a $7 billion theme park complex inspired by Dragon Ball Z after their leaders discovered a shared love for the iconic anime.
The Élysée Palace announced the agreement on August 24 during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to Paris.
According to Reuters, the €6 billion project will be built near Cergy-Pontoise, northwest of the French capital.
The development is expected to create approximately 22,000 jobs and become one of Europe’s largest theme park destinations.
Saudi entertainment and investment group Qiddiya will finance the project. The wider complex is expected to contain three separate theme parks, though specific rides and designs have yet to be revealed.

Advisers to French President Emmanuel Macron said the idea emerged after he and the Saudi crown prince discovered their shared enthusiasm for Dragon Ball Z during Macron’s visit to Saudi Arabia in 2025.
The two leaders also appeared together at the closing ceremony of the Esports World Cup in Paris one day before the theme park agreement was announced.
“You know my passion for manga. You also know my determination to attract to France the investments that create jobs and make the most ambitious projects possible,” Marcon said. “In Cergy-Pontoise, 3 theme parks will come to life.”
The French President added that nothing like this has been seen since Disneyland Paris and called the park a “new global destination.”
No opening date has been set. Construction is expected to take several years, while French officials said key details surrounding the sprawling development still need to be finalized.

That 500,000-square-meter park will feature seven themed zones following Goku’s journey from the original Dragon Ball series through Dragon Ball Super. More than 30 attractions are planned, including a 70-meter-tall Shenron roller coaster.
The French project arrives during a major period for the franchise. Burger King recently unveiled a Dragon Ball Super collaboration featuring collectible Goku and Vegeta toys.
The announcement comes as Dragon Ball Super anime is set to return with the long-awaited Galactic Patrol arc, bringing fan-favorite manga antagonist Moro to the screen.
