Popular Belgian influencer Michiel Vandeweert has reportedly died at the age of 28 after spending much of his life documenting a rare rapid aging disorder, according to a report from TMZ. The influencer’s family shared the news of his death with Flemish broadcaster VRT NWS. The details surrounding his death, including the time or cause, were not publicly disclosed.
Vandeweert was diagnosed with progeria at a young age. This was a medical condition that caused the influencer to rapidly age as a child, and doctors predicted he’d only live to see the age of 12. The influencer defied all odds and lived over twice as long as any chance he’d been given.
More importantly, the infleucner used social media to share and document his journey against the disorder, inspiring hundreds of thousands of people in the process. Vandeweert had over 90k followers on Instagram and would regularly get thousands of views on his Twitch streams.

Belgian Soccer Club KRC Genk Pays Tribute to Michiel Vandeweert

Vandeweert was a massive fan and supporter of Belgian soccer club KRC Genk. The soccer club has now come out and issued a statement, bidding farewell to the forever loyal fan:
“With deep sadness, KRC Genk bids farewell to Michiel Vandeweert. Michiel was someone who truly enjoyed life and a loyal Genkie. His courage and positivity were a source of inspiration to many. Our thoughts are with Amber, his parents, family, and friends. Rest in peace, Michiel.”
Vandeweert’s funeral is reportedly scheduled to be held on the club grounds next week. The ceremony, which is the first of its kind to be held in the club’s stadium, according to Erik Gerits, KRC Genk’s Head of Community, will be open to the public.
