McDonald’s teases Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy Meal with kaiju toys

McDonald’s is preparing to unleash one of its wildest Happy Meal crossovers yet by teaming Hello Kitty with Godzilla for a new collection of kaiju-inspired toys.

The fast food giant has repeatedly paired Hello Kitty with other major franchises, previously transforming the Sanrio icon and her friends into characters from Yu-Gi-Oh and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Now, Hello Kitty is crossing paths with the King of the Monsters for a limited-time promotion that is set to hit McDonald’s restaurants in the United States this month.

Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy Meal arrives August 18

McDonald’s Senior Marketing Director Guillaume Huin shared the first teaser on August 10, calling it “one of the best collections of Happy Meal toys I’ve ever seen” and “Hall of fame collectibles in the making.”

“Cute meets Kaiju,” he added, confirming the collection will arrive on August 18.

The accompanying video shows a Happy Meal box sailing across the ocean in a tiny boat as a massive figure begins to rise from the water behind it. The creature is eventually revealed as Hello Kitty wearing a Godzilla-style headpiece.

Huin’s post specifically says the toys are coming to McDonald’s locations in the US.

However, the exact lineup remains under wraps. McDonald’s has not revealed how many toys will be available or whether other Sanrio characters and Toho monsters will be included.

Promotional images indicate that MechaGodzilla and SpaceGodzilla will be included, but no word on other classic monsters such as King Ghidorah, Mothra or Rodan.

Hello Kitty previously joined Yu-Gi-Oh for a McDonald’s Happy Meal in 2024 before returning for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover the following year.

Godzilla has also been busy outside the movie world. Earlier in 2026, the monster teamed with Pabst Blue Ribbon for a gigantic 99-pack featuring Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Mechagodzilla artwork
