Conservative commentator Laura Loomer took to X to criticize Hasan Piker for his infamous 9/11 comments. For context, in a livestream in August, 2019, Piker discussed American foreign policy and uttered the controversial words, “America deserved 9/11.” Since then, the streamer has addressed said comment in multiple interviews and streams. On August 10, 2026, Loomer called out Piker for his “newspaper from 9/12 with the World Trade Center burning,” stating:

“You people are so full of s***. This is Hasan Piker’s current studio set up. He literally has a framed copy of the newspaper from 9/12 with the World Trade Center burning. He loves 9/11. Notice everyone who is lying and saying he disavowed his prior comments is also a Muslim. All these Muslims do is lie. I swear to God it’s like a disease of the mind and they are all infected.”

The post Loomer reposted was shared by progressive commentator Mehdi Hasan, who defended the Twitch streamer against criticism over his comments about the September 11 attacks, claiming that Piker had “long ago disavowed” those statements.

Hasan Piker Responds to Criticism Over Framed 9/11 Newspaper

Hasan Piker’s current streaming setup features a framed newspaper from September 12, 2001, reporting on the infamous September 11 attacks. This drew criticism from social media users and online far-right personalities. On July 27, 2026, Piker addressed the backlash in a livestream:

“First of all, it’s called, ‘Never Forget….’ It’s probably the most singularly important historic event of all of our lifetime…. They all complained about this, and then one day later, Donald Trump came out and was like, ‘Hey, you know that country that had the most to do with 9/11, Saudi Arabia? I’m going to give that country, nuclear weapons potentially….’ It is f****** hilarious that they went and tried to manufacture and farm outrage only to then turn around and get outdone by Donald Trump.”
