TikToker goes viral after finding “massive” 35-year-old Mars bar that dwarfs modern version

A TikToker clearing out a hoarded property has gone viral after discovering a Mars bar dating back to 1991 and comparing the size with one sold in 2026.

The woman, who runs a cleaning business, stumbled across the decades-old chocolate while clearing the property and was immediately stunned by its size. After her first video began attracting attention, she headed to a nearby shop to buy a new Mars bar and put the two side by side for comparison.

1991 Mars bar dwarfs one bought in 2026

Showing off the almost certainly inedible original find, the TikToker revealed its packaging was dated February 19, 1991.

“Look at the size of this Mars bar from 1991,” she said, holding it in her hand. “I’ve got small hands. That is massive.”

After viewers asked for a comparison, Victoria, who goes by pocketrocketscleaning on TikTok, published a follow-up video where she compared a 2026 version of the candy bar purchased from a local store with that found among the hoarded property’s contents.

The 35-year-old bar was labelled as weighing 62.5g, while its modern counterpart came in at just 40g, making the 1991 version more than 50% heavier.

“But look at the difference,” she said, while holding the two bars together, with the older Mars noticeably larger.

A typical Mars Bar sold in the UK in 1991 would have been around 30p (around $0.40), while one sold in 2026 is roughly £1 (around $1.35). Price discrepancies don’t take inflation into account, of course, but the obvious difference in size inevitably triggered debates around shrinkflation.
