Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has a whole bunch of different Wildcards to choose from, and players are limited in how many they can add to their loadout thanks to the Pick 10 System. Luckily, here is a list of the best Wildcards to use in Black Ops 2, along with some that you may be better off avoiding entirely.
Best Wildcards in COD Black Ops 2
Perk 1 Greed
Perk 1 Greed is definitely a Wildcard worth using if you’re running a two-attachment build for your weapon, or have sacrificed an additional Perk 2 or Perk 3, along with your Tactical and Lethal equipment. The reason it’s one of the best is that there are several strong Perk 1 options that work well together, with the most useful being Hardline, Ghost, and Flak Jacket.
Perk 3 Greed
Likewise, Perk 3 Greed stands out as a solid Wildcard if you free up space by sacrificing your Tactical, Lethal, and Secondary slots, or even by sticking with just two attachments on your weapon. This is because Perk 3 features some of the best Perks in the game, including Dead Silence, Awareness, Dexterity, and Extreme Conditioning, making it a no-brainer to pair two of them together.
Primary Gunfighter
- Take a third attachment for your Primary weapon.
If you’re a player who wants an extra attachment for your Primary weapon in Black Ops 2, then Primary Gunfighter is a great choice. While it’s not absolutely necessary, Primary Gunfighter lets you run an extra useful attachment, such as an Extended Magazine alongside a Suppressor and Adjustable Stock, or even an Optic in addition to two other useful attachments.
Overkill
- Take a Primary weapon as your second weapon.
Overkill does not seem to be an overly popular choice, but if you’re not a fan of the available Secondary weapons, it can be a decent option. The main benefit of Overkill comes with Sniper or Shotgun loadouts, allowing you to run an SMG or even an Assault Rifle alongside it. However, it isn’t overly necessary.
Wildcards to Avoid in COD Black Ops 2
Secondary Gunfighter
- Take a second attachment for your Second weapon.
While Secondary Gunfighter is not a bad Wildcard by any means, most players tend to free up their Secondary slot in favor of more Perks and other equipment, making it a fairly unnecessary option. Even then, you can often get away with using just one attachment, or even none at all, on your Secondary weapon, and Launchers do not support attachments anyway.
Perk 2 Greed
Like Perk 1 Greed and Perk 3 Greed, Perk 2 Greed can be useful for running an extra Perk, but I find that only one or two Perk 2 options are really worth using. Since Scavenger is often my go-to choice, I tend to stick with just that and run an extra Perk 1 or Perk 3 instead.
Tactician
- Take a Tactical grenade in place of your Lethal grenade.
Tactician is yet another Wildcard that often gets dropped in favor of other Wildcards, and it’s easy to see why. Both Tacticals and Lethals are often sacrificed for extra Perks, attachments, and more. Furthermore, even if you do run a Tactical, you’re often only going to use one, with two simply being overkill.
Danger Close
Last up is the Danger Close Wildcard, which is similar to the Tactician Wildcard, only this time you get two of the same Lethal grenade instead of two different ones. Just like the Tactician Wildcard, it’s not the most useful thing in the world, and if you need to replenish your Lethals, you can always just use the Scavenger Perk.
