Influencer Yaritza Ortiz has faced backlash after footage showed her walking onto a road while filming content moments before being struck by a motorcyclist.
The Dominican content creator, who has more than 65,000 Instagram followers, was recording on the Malecón in the Dominican Republic when the collision occurred in late July.
Video shared by Ortiz shows her appearing focused on the camera as she steps into the road. Seconds later, a motorcycle crashes into her and sends both her and the rider to the ground.
Ortiz later posted footage of her facial injuries and said one of her eyes had been particularly affected. According to Need To Know, she confirmed that she was stable and out of danger.
“Today I got to live something I never thought about. A young man was speeding down the Malecon and hit me,” she wrote on Instagram.
“In an instant, I understood that life can change completely. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a hurry, if you know the way, or if you think you’re in control. Speeding can destroy families, dreams and lives.”
Viewers blame influencer for motorcycle crash
While Ortiz urged motorists to slow down, viewers argued that the footage appeared to show her entering the road without checking for traffic.
“It’s a shame what happened to you but it looks like who doesn’t know how to walk in the street is you,” one commenter wrote.
“Sorry queen, but don’t blame the guy, you had at least 90% of the responsibility,” another said.
A third added: “He wasn’t on your land, YOU stepped into his. You didn’t even look around because you were looking at the camera.”

The motorcyclist, known online as Crispin02, has also disputed Ortiz’s version of events. He claimed she suddenly stepped into the road and left him without enough time to avoid the collision.
The rider said he suffered a fractured facial bone and would require surgery following the crash, according to a local report.
No official determination of responsibility has been reported.
