Jujutsu Kaisen: 6 Strongest Characters With Weak Techniques, Ranked

In Jujutsu Kaisen, some of the most powerful characters in the series exist at the very top of the world’s power hierarchy due to their exceptionally deadly Cursed Techniques. Powerhouses like Gojo or even Megumi were blessed with some of the strongest techniques in the series, cementing them as untouchable, for the most part.

However, there are a few notable exceptions in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, as some sorcerers have risen to the highest levels despite having techniques that are moderately strong compared to other unfair ones, like the Limitless. These are some of the strongest sorcerers in the series who boast only average techniques.

Atsuya Kusakabe Was the Strongest Grade 1 Without a Technique

Innate Technique: None

Grade 1 sorcerers are generally considered to be at the top of the jujutsu hierarchy after the Special Grades, and among them, Kusakabe is regarded as the strongest of them all. However, surprisingly, Kusakabe doesn’t even have a Cursed Technique of his own, instead relying on his extensive knowledge of jujutsu to carry him in battles.

As a master swordsman and an expert at using the Simple Domain, Kusakabe is stronger than many of the sorcerers and Cursed Spirits that have been shown in the series. In fact, his strength was even remarked by Sukuna as being quite impressive when he briefly faced off against the King of Curses.

Kento Nanami Was a Real Heavy Hitter

Innate Technique: Ratio

Although Kusakabe is considered to be the strongest Grade 1 sorcerer, Nanami had the means of defeating most characters with just a single hit. Although Ratio is still a powerful technique, it doesn’t quite reach the levels of Limitless or the Ten Shadows, and its true strength is only brought out due to Nanami’s use.

By marking his targets upon a scale, Nanami uses Ratio to target their weak points with every hit, dealing far more damage than they would have received through any other means. As such, Nanami was able to use this to fight very well against Mahito, who was one of the strongest characters in all of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Yuji Itadori’s Original Technique Was Incredibly Simple

Innate Technique: Divergent Fist+Others (Later)

As the perfect vessel for Sukuna, Yuji’s body was always stronger, faster, and way more athletic than the average person’s, which may explain why his initial Cursed Technique in the series, Divergent Fist, took the form that it did. However, by all accounts, this technique was incredibly weak compared to some others, since this did nothing but strengthen his offensive attacks.

Of course, as Yuji’s body became more and more used to Sukuna’s influence and Cursed Energy, he eventually developed multiple techniques that were far stronger, but during the initial part of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji had to make do with the Divergent Fist. Still, he was a very strong user of such a simple technique, as it allowed him to inflict significant damage to his opponents.

Kenjaku’s Technique Had an Amazing Hidden Ability

Innate Technique: Brain Transplant

In general, Kenjaku’s Cursed Technique was incredibly simple and very middling in terms of overall strength. By transplanting his brain into the bodies of his victims, he gains full control over them, their memories, and even their Cursed Energy. However, despite it sounding simple, this technique also has a hidden ability.

This hidden ability also gives Kenjaku full control of his target’s Cursed Technique, which he can often use even better than the original user due to his experience and understanding of Cursed Energy. On top of this, Kenjaku arguably has the greatest understanding of Cursed Energy after Sukuna himself, which can be seen with his Domain and general mastery of techniques.

Aoi Todo Has Received Praise From Two of the Strongest

Innate Technique: Boogie Woogie

Todo is one of the most beloved characters in all of Jujutsu Kaisen, and much of the reason for this is his infectious personality. In fact, he embodies the core tenets of being a jujutsu sorcerer so well that he is the only one in the entire story to have received praise as a sorcerer from both Sukuna and Gojo.

His technique is Boogie Woogie, which has the sole ability to swap any targets with Cursed Energy. While this sounds simple, Todo’s use of this technique genuinely makes for some of the greatest moments in the entire Jujutsu Kaisen story. With his endgame vibraslap power-up, Todo gains the most unpredictable technique that not even Sukuna could track.

Ryomen Sukuna Is the Strongest Sorcerer in History

Innate Technique: Shrine

While this may be controversial to some, it should be noted that Shrine is not weak by any means, as the slashes Sukuna creates are strong enough to destroy buildings. However, the real reason why this technique is so destructive in the first place is due to Sukuna’s vast Cursed Energy reserves, as well as his mastery over jujutsu as a whole.

Because of his intellect and general strength, Sukuna’s Cursed Technique is fully utilized, and it would not be as strong in someone else’s hands, as was shown at the end of the Shinjuku Showdown through Yuji. Only Sukuna could have reinforced his technique to the destructive levels needed to bypass Infinity, and it took Yuji almost 70 years to realize the same strength.
